A hair dryer that adapts as you style

Nural sensors inside the Supersonic Nural switch on its smart features automatically. Scalp protect mode lowers the heat as the dryer gets closer to your head, Pause detect cuts the heater when you set it down, and Attachment learning remembers your go-to settings for each magnetic attachment.

Scalp protect mode

A Time of Flight sensor projects an invisible infrared beam to measure the distance to your hair, and the air temperature drops as you get closer, for comfortable up-close drying. It works with the Gentle air attachment and the Styling concentrator.

Pause detect

An accelerometer knows when the dryer is put down during styling or sectioning, then deactivates the heater and decreases airflow and noise. It is always on, unless a diffuser attachment is connected.

Attachment learning

A Hall sensor reads the magnetic ID inside each attachment and switches to your last-used settings. Every attachment comes preset with the heat and airflow Dyson recommends, and you can change them.

How is it different from the original Supersonic?

Dyson calls the Supersonic Nural its latest hair dryer technology: it adds a network of Nural sensors that power Scalp protect mode, Attachment learning and Pause detect. Both generations come with five attachments.

How do I turn Scalp protect mode on or off?

Press the Scalp protect button on top of the clear, round end cap. It works with the Gentle air attachment and the Styling concentrator, and it overrides your last-used heat settings while it is on.

Can I use attachments from my older Supersonic?

Previous Supersonic styling attachments fit the Supersonic Nural, except the Wide-tooth comb, but they do not work with Attachment learning.

What are the preset settings for each attachment?

Gentle air: high heat, high flow. Styling concentrator: high heat, medium flow. Wide-tooth comb: high heat, high flow. Wave+Curl diffuser: medium heat, medium flow. Flyaway: low heat, high flow. You can change any of them.

How often should I clean the filter?

Dyson recommends once a month. Remove the magnetic filter cage and soak it in warm, soapy water for at least 30 minutes, then rinse and dry it, and wipe the filter itself with a clean, dry cloth.

How do I style the back of my head?

Rotate the styling attachment 45° and slowly dry or style from the root downwards. The attachments stay comfortably cool around their outer edges, so hold them there to rotate or remove them.

Can I use it outside North America?

This model is built for 120V outlets and draws 1,600 W. Before traveling, check the voltage at your destination: a plug adapter changes the plug shape, not the voltage.
