Two steps become one

You start on wet hair and finish straight: no towel-drying, blow-drying and then straightening. By combining two steps into one, Dyson says the Airstrait saves up to an hour each week.

Temperature read 16 times a second

Glass bead thermistors in the arms regulate airflow temperature up to 16 times per second, and a 13-blade impeller powered by the Hyperdymium motor propels the air through the device. Styling with airflow alone leaves hair looking and feeling healthier.

It knows when hair is there

The Airstrait senses when there's hair between its arms and automatically decreases airflow when there isn't, for quieter, more efficient styling. After three seconds of inactivity it pauses airflow on its own; move it and the session restarts.

How to finish

Cool mode sets the style

Run it wet to dry, or on dry hair for a touch-up: wet mode gives you 3 heat and 2 speed settings, dry mode 3 heat settings including Boost. Finish on Cool mode, engineered to encourage the bonds in the hair to stay in their new place.

Can I really use it on wet hair?

Yes — that is the point of the machine. It dries and straightens at the same time, with only air. For safety on wet hair it ships with a PRCD plug; Dyson asks you to press TEST and RESET before every use.

Does it have hot plates?

No. The Airstrait creates straight looks using only air, which is how it avoids the heat damage that comes from pressing hair between hot plates.

What settings does it have?

Wet mode: 3 heat and 2 speed settings. Dry mode: 3 heat settings, including Boost, and 2 speeds. There is also a Cool mode to set the style at the end.

What comes in the box?

The Airstrait dryer and straightener and its presentation case. The Dyson sectioning clips shown in the brand's styling steps are sold separately.

How long does it take?

Dyson does not publish a fixed time — it depends on your hair. What the brand does state is that combining drying and straightening into one step saves up to an hour a week compared with doing them separately.

Can I use it abroad?

This unit is built for 120V, the North American standard. Dyson engineers each machine for the voltage of the country where it is sold, so check the guidance in the manual before traveling.

Does it help with frizz and shine?

Dyson states that the regulated airflow maintains and increases hair's natural shine, and that the 45° downward airflow creates just the right amount of tension for a smooth end style.

Can I return it if I change my mind?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, unused and in the original box with the case and the manual. If it arrives defective, tell us within 7 days and we send a replacement first.
